How to restore files in a Hyper-V virtual machine

Prerequisites

Backup the drive where the virtual machine is stored.

Resolution

1) Mount the backup image.

2) Check whether VHDX or VHD exists in the mounted drive.

3) Computer Management — Disk management — Action — Attach VHD.

4) Attach VHDX or VHD.
   * Check the Read-only.

5) Open the drive where VHDX or VHD is mounted and copy the file.

6) Computer Management — Disk management — select mount disk — Right click — Detach VHD

7) Unmount the backup image.
