Unable to quiesce a guest file system with a particular environment and VMware Tools version

Summary

Guest file system quiescing may fail in an environment meeting certain conditions. HyperAgent backup failure occurs due to the inability to create a VMware snapshot.

– Windows Server 2008 or later
– ActiveImage Protector 2018 SP3 - 2018 Update 6 and a incremental schedule task ran more than once.
– VMware Tools is 10.1.x or later

Workaround

Operate ActiveImage Protector using only full backup, or update to VMware Tools version 11.0.0 or later.
