Summary
Even when scheduled vStandby tasks normally run, OS may not boot up from virtual standby replica.
When a virtual machine on ESXi6.7 or later host is specified for the standby source and ESXi6.7 or later for the target host, if a snapshot of standby source virtual machine is taken by enabling [Quiescing guest file systems] option, the task may successfully complete, however, the virtual standby replica does not boot up.
When a virtual machine on ESXi6.7 or later host is specified for the standby source and Hyper-V for the target host, if a snapshot of standby source virtual machine is taken by enabling [Quiescing guest file systems] option, execution of the task results in Exit -701 error.
* Compatibility issue when standby source is virtual machine: Compatibility issue occurs when standby source is virtual machine on ESXi6.7 or later host.
Workaround
1) Delete vStandby schedule settings.
When deleting the schedule settings, check in the box for [Delete virtual standby replica].
2) Delete the snapshot of standby source taken by enabling [Quiescing guest file systems] option.
3) Configure the schedule settings for vStandby task again.
