Instructions for manually starting AIP service on RHEL8.x or RHEL8.x clone OS

Summary

Manually starting the AIP service on RHEL8.x or RHEL8.x clone OS using the standard boot command may halt during logoff attempts, causing the service to stop.

Causes

Manually starting the AIP service on RHEL8.x or RHEL8.x clone OS from a terminal creates a parent-child process relationship. When logging off, the terminal closure leads to the termination of the AIP service.

Workaround

–  If AIP 2018 Linux Update 7 or earlier is installed on RHEL8.x or RHEL8.x clone OS, upgrade to AIP 2018 Linux Update 8.

–  For AIP 2018 Linux Update 8, use the provided command to manually restart or stop the service. 
# systemctl stop aipservice
# systemctl start aipservice
