When backing up a disk with Windows extended logical volume on a Linux-based boot environment (AIPBE), there were instances where File Recovery using the backup failed.
File Recovery failed
- Selected [Image Manager] - [Mount Backup] and restored a file.
- Selected [Recovery] - [File Recovery].
- Selected [Image Manager] - [iSCSI Target Server] and restored a file.
File Recovery succeeded
- Image Explorer (Double-click on a backup file and restore a file.)
Causes
This is a limitation.
Workaround
Use Boot Environment Builder to create a Windows-based boot environment. Then, take a backup within this Windows-based boot environment
Restoring or virtualizing using a backup file created in AIPBE typically succeeds.
