Details
The phenomenon was observed that access to a Hyper-V host was denied and failed.
In most cases when using the following operating procedures and trying to establish the connection with a remote Hyper-V host, although the correct user name and password were entered, authentication failed in some cases as a result of the following.
1) When selecting [Standby] > [HyperStandby] in the left panel on AIP console and entering the full-path image file name, authentication to a Hyper-V host in [Create vStandby Task] failed with the following message shown in red.
User Name or Password is incorrect. Please try again.
2) When selecting [Standby] > [vStandby] in the left panel on the AIP console and authenticating the access to Hyper-V host, the "connecting / loading" icon is displayed. After a few seconds, the connection failure occurs. As a result, you cannot proceed with the subsequent operation.
3) When selecting [Preference] > [Hypervisor] > [Add Hypervisor] in the AIP console and trying to register remote Hyper-V, you will get the following message in red.
Connection error! Please check the IP address or certification.
4) When selecting [Virtualization] > [Convert from Image] or [Convert from Disk] in AIP console and specify Hyper-V host to establish the connection, you will get the following message and the connection fails to establish.
Connection to the specified host failed to establish. [OK]
Connection error is recorded in the following log records. In this case, "Access denied" error (0x80070005) is recorded.
AIP install path\logs\hyper-v\AipService_date numbers.log
Causes
This error is caused because the WMI connectivity to Hyper-V host from the connection source was not normally established.
There is no fix on the AIP side.
According to our test results, as a result of applying the Windows Update to the latest version to both authentication source environment and authentication target Hyper-V environment, WMI connectivity was successfully established.
How to check WMI connectivity:
1) Right-click on Windows Start menu and select [Run] -- enter "wbemtest" and run [Windows Management Instrumentation test].
Click [Connect].
2) In the Connection window, enter "\\IP address of the target Hyper-V host\\root\cimv2" for the Name and click [Connect]. When you get the following error dialog, authentication to Hyper-V host fails in AIP as well.
When the connection is successfully established, the status shows that the connection to the "Name Space: \\IP\\root\cim2" path is successfully established.
When you fail to install Windows Update, please refer to the following article. If the issue is not fixed, please contact the vendor or Microsoft.
