Details
Multiple schedules are created and enabled as follows, although specifications dictate that only one schedule should be created for each volume in tracking driver mode.
Schedule 1 Select DISK0
Schedule 2 Select a volume assigned with no letter in DISK0
Example of how the schedule behaves:
Schedule 1 Full
Schedule1 Incremental
Schedule2 Full
Schedule1 Full or incremental created by Reconcile Image feature
Schedule1 Incremental
Schedule2 Full or incremental created by Reconcile Image feature
As tracking data on the source volume are overwritten during schedule operations, the incremental backup task doesn't execute correctly. Instead, the Full or Reconcile Image feature runs full or incremental backups. However, using the created backup image file should resolve any issues.
Causes
This is a known issue. The following controls should have been applied when creating the schedules, but were not.
Workaround
When creating multiple schedules for one volume, only one schedule should be in tracking driver mode, while the others should be in CBC mode.
[2 Destination] > Advanced Settings --- Change Block Tracking mode. You can change the Changed Block Tracking Settings.
By default, Tracking Driver Mode is selected. However, when upgrading AIP and migrating schedule settings from version 7.0.0.8643 or earlier, the schedules are configured in CBC mode.
When editing the created schedule, the Change Block Tracking mode radio button is grayed out and cannot be changed. Please create a new schedule instead.
Change Block Tracking mode is implemented in AIP2022 Version 7.0.0.8643.
This issue was fixed in patch version 24.7.31.2.
