Details
To run a HyperBack task for a virtual machine on a Hyper-V host, log in with the built-in Administrator account to register the hypervisor.
If security policies prevent using the Administrator account in a domain environment, follow these steps.
- Use an Administrator account when accessing a Hyper-V host in a workgroup.
Workaround
1) Add a Domain Users or Domain Admins account to the local Administrators group on the Hyper-V host.
2) Disable RCTHelper in AIP on HyperAgent:
Go to [Preference] > [HyperBack Setting] > [Option] > [Tracking Method] > [Using Microsoft Resilient Change Tracking (RCT)] and uncheck it.
3) Use the account added in step 1 to register the hypervisor.
When not using the Administrator account, push installation on the Hyper-V host will fail, and incremental backups will use the CBC method instead:
- RCT (Resilient Change Tracking) is available on Windows Server 2016 and later.
- If RCT is unavailable, AIP's CBC (Changed Block Comparison) tracks changes.
- CBC tracks changes using a Bitmap, which may result in longer incremental backup times compared to RCT.
