Details
If the File Recovery task in ActiveImage Protector is forcefully or abnormally terminated, the VHD mount information remains in Disk Management. This prevents full and incremental files from being deleted during the recovery process. Since these files won’t be automatically removed in future backups, follow these steps to release them manually.
Case
For example, when running File Recovery for a backup image of a disk, select a recovery point and proceed. The recovery point will then mount as Disk 1 in Disk Management.
If the File Recovery task is forcefully or abnormally terminated, the file may remain mounted. If reopening ActiveImage Protector doesn’t resolve the issue, follow these steps to fix it.
Operating Procedures
1) Open Windows Task Manager, go to the Advanced tab, right-click ActiphyExecuteCMDX64.exe, and select End Task > End Process to forcefully terminate it.
* At this point, the VHD mount is removed from Disk Management, but the AIP image file is still in use by aipservice.
2) In Windows Services, right-click ActiveImage Protector Service and select Stop. Stopping the service may take some time.
* Now, the mounted AIP image file can be deleted or used normally.
3) Delete the entire folder, including the specified subfolders, in Windows Explorer.
C:\Windows\tmp\CBFSFlt_VHDX
C:\Windows\tmp\miniboottemp
4) In Windows Services, right-click ActiveImage Protector Service and select Start.
