E-mail notifications fail with ActiveImage Protector Version 7.5.0.9448 or later

Details

In AIP Version 7.5.0.9448 or later, public DNS servers are now used to fix activation issues caused by DNS resolution failures. This change may cause email errors in environments without public DNS or when using host names unsupported by public DNS.

Countermeasure
To isolate the issue, check if the email notification works when replacing the SMTP server's host name with its IP address. If it does, follow these steps:

1. Open aip.ini in AIP's install path and add dns_tls_pref=0 under the [aipcopy] section.

2. Set up email to use the host name.
3. Verify that the email can be sent using the host name.

If it still fails, reboot the system, clear the DNS cache, and try sending the email again.
