Backup task may stop

Symptoms

The backup task may stop.

Cause

– Case1
Progress rate of the backup task will continue and stop at 1%.

– Case2
The backup task might pause at either 2% or 96% progress. This happens during the phase where data is being copied to the backup target.

This issue may be caused by the antivirus software.
The anti-virus software which is the confirmed cause:

– Symantec Endpoint Protection 11
– Symantec Endpoint Protection 12

Workarounds

– Case1
Upgrade to the latest version.

– Case2
Implement a batch file to Stop/Start anti-virus service.
