Details
Before running a HyperBack VM task on KVM / Proxmox, make sure the targetcli command is installed. In some configurations, it is not installed by default, which can cause HyperBack to fail.
If the targetcli command is missing when the task runs, the following message will appear in [ActiveImage Protector install path]\logs\KVM\AipService.log.
2026-05-11 17:10:44.940 LOG_ERROR [proxmox] targetcli /iscsi ls | grep iqn; bash: line 1: targetcli: command not found (CBaseProxy.cpp):651 2026-05-11 17:10:44.949 LOG_INFO [proxmox] Remove snapshot finished. error:-101 (KvmApi.cpp):146
Workaround
Please check whether the targetcli command is available on the KVM / Proxmox host. If it is not installed, please install it.
RHEL series # dnf install targetcli Debian(Proxmox), Ubuntu # apt update # apt install targetcli-fb
