This article explains how to restore agent-based and agentless (HyperBack) backup images. Additional details may be added later.
You can create a boot environment using the Boot Environment Builder.
In Windows environments, AIP supports HyperBack, HyperRecovery, HyperStandby, and Virtual Conversion (some features may not be available in certain editions).
Agent-based backup images (Windows)
- Restore by booting into a recovery environment
- Actiphy Boot Environment (Windows PE / Windows RE / Linux BE)
- Restore with HyperRecovery
- Convert to a virtual machine using Virtual Conversion
- Use HyperStandby
- Recover files with AIP on Windows (Windows file systems only)
Agentless backup images (HyperBack) for Windows
- Boot into a recovery environment and restore
- Actiphy Boot Environment (Windows PE / Windows RE)
- Requires Boot Environment Builder v1.0.14.1402 or later and a boot environment created with AIP v7.7.0.9999 or later
- Restore with HyperRecovery
- Use HyperStandby
- Recover files with AIP on Windows (Windows file systems only)
- Restore using the Volume Recovery feature
- Requires AIP2022 v7.7.0.9999 or later
Agent-based backup images (Linux)
- Restore in the Actiphy Boot Environment (Linux BE)
- Restore with HyperRecovery (Basic disk only)
- Use HyperStandby (Basic disk only)
- Recover files with AIP on Linux
Agentless backup images (Hyperback) for Linux
- Restore using HyperRecovery
- Use HyperStandby
Backup images must be restored using the same or a newer AIP version that supports the image format. If the AIP version does not support the format, the backup image cannot be selected for restore.
File backup images can be restored using File Recovery or Image Explorer.
