ActiveImage Protector Service isn’t compatible with Windows Server 2025

Details

On Windows Server 2025 set up as a domain controller with Windows Updates applied, you may encounter these issues:

・AIP service (ActiveImage Protector Service) does not start.
・AIP install/uninstall fails (installer freezes and doesn’t progress).
・After applying the problematic KB program and installing AIP, Windows system is restarted.

Causes

This issue is caused when KB5062553 is applied. Once the issue occurs, uninstallation of the KB program does not solve the issue.

Workaround

Update the local security settings.

Open Local Security Policy → go to Security Options → disable User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode.



Restart Windows to apply the changes.
