When an ftServer with duplexed disks is started using a Windows PE/RE boot environment, Windows may fail to start normally afterward and instead boot into the Windows Recovery Environment. (This issue does not depend on whether a backup task was executed.)
Our user guide instructs removing a disk from one unit before performing a cold backup on an ftServer, ensuring that ftServer with duplexed disks is not affected. However, after removing a disk from one unit, this issue was confirmed by some of our customers.
As a workaround for this issue, you are recommended to use Linux-based boot environment instead of Windows PE/RE boot environment.
(Although the instructions in our user guide are provided assuming that Windows PE/RE-based boot environment is used. However, please replace Windows PE/RE-based boot environment with Linux-based boot environment.)
This issue is caused by how disk duplexing works between Windows PE/RE and the ftServer and cannot be resolved within AIP.
For more details on this issue, please refer to the ftServer hardware maker’s knowledge base.
