Summary
Occasionally, there are installation failures for AIP 2018 Linux.
Two possible causes of the problem can be identified in the log, which is found in tmp/aipinstall.log. Open it with a text editor to locate the specific error.
1) Missing packages
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 4.18.0-193.14.2.el8_2.x86_64 (x86_64). Check /var/lib/dkms/dattobd/0.10.13/build/make.log for additional details. Warning: %post(dkms-dattobd-0.10.13-1.el8.noarch) scriptlet failed with exit status 10.
2) Installing on SecureBoot system
"depmod" encountered an issue. The job for systemd-modules-load.service failed, and you can check for details with "systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service" and "journalctl -xe".
Cause
1) A known issue with AIP-packages-tool.sh may arise during AIP Agent-only installation, particularly on RHEL8.x/CentOS8.x. This could result in missing required packages.
2) SecureBoot – may cause driver generation failure.
Workaround
1) To ensure a safe installation, obtain scripts from the provided link. Then, attempt to install the package before proceeding with the Agent installation.
2) Before installing AIP, it's necessary to disable the SecureBoot function.
