Summary
Please remember the following when deploying Actiphy Authentication Service (AAS):
1) Actiphy Authentication Service (AAS) serves as a proxy server for Actiphy’s Online Activation Server when ActiveImage Protector 2018 (AIP2018) is installed on a computer without direct internet access. With AAS deployed in the same LAN, it facilitates license authentication and activation for ActiveImage Protector 2018.
2) Authentication process for AIP2018:
License authentication and activation occur in sequence. After the initial activation, subsequent activations happen automatically daily. If the product remains unactivated for 30 days, AIP2018's backup feature is disabled. Reactivation enables the backup feature once again.
(1) The PC with AIP2018 will try to find AAS by using domain DNS queries to request product activation.
(2) In a workgroup environment without internet connection, the PC with AIP2018 will try to find AAS by using network broadcasts to request product activation.
(3) When Actiphy's product is installed on a PC with internet access, activation is attempted by directly accessing Actiphy’s Online Activation Server.
(4) Deployment of AAS
AAS operates as a standalone activation server.
- In an offline environment without internet access, AIP2018 and AAS can be installed on the same machine.
- Product activation is attempted using network broadcasts to IP addresses such as APIPA.
(2) Local Authentication
A server with AIP2018 and AAS requests product activation. If you deploy AAS on multiple computers within the same LAN, the discovery process of AAS using network broadcasts becomes complex. It is recommended to deploy one AAS in one segment.
