Summary
The functionality of AIP 4.x to AIP2018SP1 is as follows.
————–
When initializing a connected disk as an unpartitioned RAW device, be aware that the initialization process may alter data in the first sector. To prevent data loss from the first sector, it is recommended to partition the disks, allocating a partition to a RAW device.
ActiveImage Protector initializes disks identified as uninitialized during the following instances:
– When the “aipcontrol diskinfo” command is executed.
– When a backup task is started.
– When the Restore Image wizard is launched.
– When the GUI is launched.

Workaround
Starting from AIP2018SP2 or later, RAW disks will no longer be initialized. Please ensure you update accordingly.
