Debian 9 NAS connectivity issue

Summary

When choosing NAS for backup on Debian 9 and specifying //<host name>/<shared folder>, the backup might stall at 0.1% in rare cases. The log record stops at the following:

Causes

This issue is specific to Debian 9. There may be a problem with the smb-related package in Debian 9, leading to this phenomenon.

Workaround

Specify the IP address of the target host for the backup destination.
