Summary
Windows system hot backup relies on the Volume Shadow Copy service (VSS) snapshot. If the VSS process encounters issues, the backup function of AIP is affected. Failure of the VSS process results in an AIP backup task ending with Exit Code [-311].
Common reasons for VSS process failure include:
1. Insufficient Volume Space: Ensure the backup source volume has at least 10% available space when using VSS.
2. High Disk Load: If the backup source volume is heavily loaded, making it challenging to create or save a snapshot, the VSS process fails, leading to backup task failure.
3. Memory Insufficiency: If there's inadequate memory or resources, the VSS process can't proceed, causing errors and backup task failure.
