This article explains how to create multiple schedules for backing up a single environment, whether using agentless or agent-based methods.
Agentless Backup
1) Create Backup Schedule
You can only create one agentless backup schedule for a single virtual guest. Attempting to create multiple schedules will result in an error message and failure.
Also, if a single virtual guest has multiple virtual disks, you cannot create separate schedules for each disk. Attempting to do so will result in an error message and failure.
2) Edit Schedule
The following items are grayed out and cannot be edited, so you must create a new schedule. Other items can be edited.
- Specify the backup destination
- Edit task name
- Compression level, password-protection and encryption of a backup image file
- Back up multiple virtual machines in one image file
Agent Backup
1) Create a schedule
- Tracking Driver Mode of Linux and Windows editions
You can create only one full + incremental schedule. Configure it by selecting options for each task. For example, create one schedule for the entire disk, including "C:\" and another for "C:\" only.
To create another schedule for a volume with an existing full + incremental backup, uncheck the incremental option in the Schedule window. This will remove the weekly calendar.
If schedule options appear in the window, you must configure full + incremental backups. Clicking [OK] will display a message. The same message appears if you enable a disabled schedule option or if the full + incremental backup option is enabled.
Clicking [OK] on the message will disable the schedule and reset change tracking. When you enable the schedule again, a full backup will be created, even if the first task is set as incremental. Subsequent backups will follow the schedule.
- Changed Block Comparison (CBC) in Windows Edition
Multiple full + incremental schedules can be created for one backup source volume.
In Windows Edition, you can:
- Create one full + incremental schedule using Tracking Driver Mode.
- Create multiple full + incremental schedules using Changed Block Comparison (CBC) mode.
